Lay Christian counselling involves the integration of the Christian faith and Biblical truths into counselling. This is often provided by someone who has received training in Lay Christian Counselling and/or received a certificate in Christian counselling. This service will follow the standards associated with the Canadian College of Christian Counsellors.
Lay Christian Counselling Services are available for ages 10 and up with concerns in the areas of:
- Anger
- Anxiety
- Depression
- High stress
- Parent/child conflict
- Spiritual concerns

What to Expect
G.F.A. Lay Christian Counselling provides you with an opportunity to integrate your faith-based values and beliefs into sessions. This service is offered by video or telephone counselling sessions. Mobile Lay Christian counselling is available in special circumstances. At your first session, you will be invited to review a consent form for service where you will indicate your choice of service and consent to proceed. Your consent form will be secured on a password protected platform.
During your session, Dr. Fearing-Afflick will keep track of the discussion, treatment goals and progress. In doing so, she may invite you to complete a questionnaire that helps to understand the presenting concern(s) further. When questionnaire are completed, they will be reviewed with you in session.
Payment of sessions are expected at the end of each session by e-money transfer and/or insurance billing.

- Use of General Counselling Skills
- Incorporates Biblical Principles
- Incorporates strategies for coping with mild mental health concerns (e.g., stress, anxiety)
- Social Prescribing1 (where appropriate, includes support with referral to specialized or non-specialized services that align with client goals)
- Social Prescribing is a formal term used to describe when a client/patient is referred to local, non-clinical services that are aligned with the client/patient’s goal(s). ↩︎
